The Second Look is built on Duane K. Andrews's course How to Read Why People Do What They Do at Work, read through the ENRICH Framework created by Duane K. Andrews and Sherry M. Jerimie: Ethnicity, Nationality, Race, Identity, Culture and Heritage. It is a discipline: look again before the first read hardens into a verdict, about them or about you.

◆ Look again at the act before the first read turns into a label
◆ Map which way an act traveled through the power gradient, and who else saw it
◆ Test whether an ENRICH dimension is carrying the load, without assuming that it is
◆ Separate how often something happens to you from how often it happens to everyone

Someone at work has read you fast and landed on a word: intense, abrasive, not a fit. Or someone did something to you, and you are not sure whether it was about the work or about you.

When your Ethnicity, Nationality, Race, Identity, Culture or Heritage sets you apart from the people around you, the first read is often wrong, in both directions. So we look again: the act, which way it traveled, how often, what the room rewards, and the person last.
