Then build your approach around what is actually true, not what assertiveness training assumes. Some environments penalize ENRICH assertiveness consistently -- and in those environments, the development work is not just behavioral, it is strategic.

Know When Staying Is the Strategy and When Leaving Is. Assertiveness has an institutional ceiling in some environments. ENRICH professionals who have developed genuine assertiveness skills sometimes discover that the limiting factor is not their behavior -- it is the institution's willingness to receive it equitably. Part of the assertiveness development arc is the capacity to honestly assess when the environment is a context to navigate more skillfully and when it is a context to exit strategically.
